K2M Launches DENALI(TM) Deformity Spine Technology
5th September 2006
K2M Launches DENALI(TM) Deformity Spine Technology; New Fusion Product Developed Through Unique Surgeon Driven Approach
K2M, Inc., the Surgeon Driven Design(TM) company developing next generation spine technologies, today announced the commercial launch of the DENALI Deformity system, a new spine fusion product, already in use by such leading hospitals and treatment centers as Baylor Medical Center, Georgetown University Medical Center, Hospital for Special Surgery, New York Presbyterian, and Scripps Mercy Hospital.
Spine deformities resulting from scoliosis and other debilitating illnesses require specialized instrumentation. DENALI Deformity, an extension of the DENALI Spinal System, provides a versatile and comprehensive system to support these highly specialized surgical requirements. The patient population for the DENALI Deformity system includes children who undergo corrective surgery to prevent future and potentially life threatening conditions, as well as adults with afflictions resulting from deterioration and advanced diseases.
"DENALI Deformity gives surgeons the ability to deliver maximum performance during some of the most complex of spine related procedures while helping to enhance patient care," stated Eric Major, K2M's President and CEO. "This system has been designed to be fully comprehensive and offers all the instrument and implant options a surgeon may need to treat these most complex pathologies. This extension to DENALI is a result of our continued focus on the development of new technologies. Our products provide results that matter most because they were designed by many of the spine industry's foremost surgical experts."
"DENALI Deformity is another reaffirmation of how K2M's inclusion of industry experts in the development process produces surgical instruments tailored to meet real-world needs," stated Dr. John Kostuik, K2M Co-Founder and Chairman. "When members of the medical community see patients suffering from spine deformities, it is enormously gratifying to know that with a product like this, surgeons can make a real difference in their lives."
