I had fusion for lumbar AIS in july 1981 Harrington rod inserted this rod started to bend at the top and one of the hook at the top came away. I had to have a replacement rod four months later in nov 1981. The replacement rod had to removed at end of jan 1982 the hook at the bottom came away. This soon followed by disc trouble and 10 years later i started to have probs below the fusion with facet joint.
