I saw he MRI scans of Mrs Icough which were taken in Spain.
Interestingly her lowest two discs are well hydrated and there is no particular problem with this. There is some wear and tear in the discs above, but this is not catastrophic.
I think we would therefore look at injections as previously considered and to that end I would recommend that she have a combination of a caudal epidural and facet joint blocks which can be done as a day case under sedation.
The idea here is to try to get her to live with the spine that she has rather than change it with any form of architectural device!
