Rod Breakage Questions

We have listed a few questions that we feel are important and help you get your head around what the surgery would entail.

Where is it broken?

Why do you think it is broken (Is it wear and tear, or has my curve progressed causing it to break)?

Is my fusion still solid?

Do you think it is necessary to remove the rod?

What are my risks if I remove it? Leave it in?

Do I need anything else other than rod removal, like revision?

Do you think new hardware needs to be put in?

How much experience do you have removing rods (or doing revision surgery)?

Are there any former patients I can speak with?

If the doctor doesn't have a lot of experience, ask "If I were your family member, who would you send me to for this surgery."
