I have been running a Scoliosis Support group on Facebook for some months now, it all started with clothing to be honest but since we have been together the group has started to change and new discussions are forming which are not focused on clothes - this does not bother me I can sit and talk about Scoliosis all day long on any subject from clothes to bracing to surgery to pain!.
During these discussions I got thinking about charity work, there are many people with Scoliosis that I come across in my daily life which need help with one thing or another and my heart bleeds for them. I am in a fortunate situation where my husband has a good job and we are both able to work from home, this is not the case for all people with Scoliosis, therefore I would like to start raising money for these people and give them the help they need, where we can and within reason.
I am not starting an official charity yet because I need to raise 5,000K before I can apply, therefore, I am trying to raise this money in various forms from events to selling scoliosis awareness wristbands. I want the money I raise to go to the people not tied up with costs of running it.
I do not need money from the website for me, my husband and I work full time and we are in a good position where I can work from home, it breaks my heart to see fellow Scoliosis patients who are stuck between a rock and a hard place, so I would like to help, now I am no millionaire but I can help others around me and this is my ultimate aim, I would love to get a memory foam mattress into every household where a Scoliotic person lives - quite an achievement but it never hurts to try now does it!
